Create an Anti-Vision board to build focus.

Mentally vision what you want in life by recognizing what you don’t want.

Think back to when you were a child: What was one thing you forced to do that you hated doing? This is a good exercise to help draw out all of the tasks, outcomes, etc. that had negative impact.

It’s easier to know from experience what you don’t want — than to imagine what you do want.

This exercise may take a while, but be thorough. Keep an open mind as you answer these questions, and as you answer them, you may think of additional questions to answer.

Let’s group these questions into 4 parts: Health, Wealth, Love, and Lifestyle.

Write down and answer the following:

Health

  • How do you not want to look?
  • How do you not want to feel?

Wealth

  • How much money is not enough to sustain you?
  • Why can’t you be happy with that amount?
  • How do you not want to make money?
  • What is it about your current job you despise?

Love

  • What type of person do you not want as a partner?
  • What personality traits do you dislike?
  • What physical qualities do you despise in a partner?
  • What is the social economic status that would be a deal breaker?
  • What other qualities would be a deal breaker?

Lifestyle

  • What does an unfulfilling day look like?
  • In your ideal future, what is one thing you don’t want to happen?
  • Where will you end up if you keep doing what you’re doing – without change?
  • What are the elements of a future you absolutely don’t want?

The more detailed you are, the more your mind works in the positive to help motivate you to take positive actions towards your future. Revisit this list monthly to revise and fine tune as needed.
